Teaching

From 1999 until 2018 Heiner Goebbels was professor at the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies (ATW) of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany - responsible specially for the artistic practise (curating performing arts, audio-, video-, light-installations and many other stage projects).
From 2002 until 2011 he has been managing director of this institute and in this periode he co-founded the Hessian Theatre Academy, the Hessian Film- and Media Academy, tanzlabor_21 and Frankfurt LAB. He concieved the new Masterprogram for "Choreography and Performance" and installed a third chair at the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies, a professorship for dance theory.
From 2006 until 2018 he was president of the Theatre Academy in Hessen (HTA), an education network of four universities and ten state- and city-theatres.

In numerous lectures and articles he participates in the contemporary discourse on performing arts and their education. His Anthology Aesthetics of Absence (2015) has been released in German (2012), Russian (2015) and Polish (2016), more translations are on the way.
He is member of several boards for education, research, production or support of experimental theatre and music theatre.
